"1.       Âmbito da Política

This policy applies to scientific publications resulting from funding fully or partially granted by FCT, namely: 2.1 Scientific articles subject to scientific review or validation processes by peers1 (peer review), including review articles, conference communications and preprints ( understood as scientific articles subject to peer review independent of a journal publication process, with implicit or explicit validation). 2.2 Books, book chapters, monographs, subject to peer review or scientific validation processes. 2.3 Master's dissertations and doctoral theses. 1 A "standard peer review process" is defined as involving at least two expert reviewers who adhere to COPE guidelines and who do not have a conflict of interest with the author(s). Implicit validation occurs when reviewers declare the conditions that must be met for the article to be validated. An explicit validation is done by an editor, an editorial committee, or a community that oversees the review process.

For the purposes of this document, open access to scientific publications, as defined in point 2, is understood as their availability in magazines, platforms or repositories, accessible via the Internet, at no cost and without content restrictions for those who access and without the application of embargo periods. Open access also implies the possibility of reusing the content of publications.."

"All submissions of articles covered by this Policy, regardless of the route used to comply with the Policy, must visibly include, for example in the acknowledgment section or in the letter sending the article to the editor, the following text: “This research was funded in whole or in part by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. (FCT, Funder ID = 50110000187) under Grant (Funder Grant number). For the purpose of Open Access, the author has applied a CC-BY public copyright license12 to any Author‘s Accepted Manuscript (AAM) version arising from this submission.”"
