Excerpt #1

OPEN ACCESS IN A NUTSHELL
"Open access content is content that is accessible to all without barriers: no authentication required, no embargoed resources, no paid access, etc. This can include scientific publications, data, code, etc." Open Science Committee, https://www.ouvrirlascience.fr/category/glossaire/

French and European directives, such as the National Plan for Open Science and cOAlition S, encourage publications from publicly funded research to be made available to all without hindrance.

QUAE-OPEN, A WEBSITE DEDICATED TO OPEN ACCESS PUBLICATIONS
In this context, and to encourage this approach, Quæ is making a large part of its catalogue available on a site entirely dedicated to open access.

DIGITAL BOOKS AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE DOWNLOAD
Some of the books in the Quæ catalogue, in French or English, are freely available in PDF or ePub format. They can be downloaded immediately, without the need to enter any personal data.

A MIXED BUSINESS MODEL
The mixed model is a business model that combines two modes of access to books: free access to digital versions of the book and a commercial paper version (see our website www.quae.com).

PERMANENT IDENTIFIER AND REFERENCING
A DOI (digital object identifier) is assigned to every title published in open access. Books are also referenced on a number of platforms, including DOAB.

DISTRIBUTION LICENCE
In agreement with the authors, our open access publications are distributed under a CC-by-NC-ND licence.

You are authorised to share - copy, distribute and communicate the material by any means and in any format under the following conditions:
